Clean Cotton, Clean Conscience
The Pima Cotton Promise (2018)
KENT launched in 2018 in Los Angeles with a philosophy distilled to its essence: the cleanest possible underwear for the planet and the body. Founded by Chloe Stroll and Chelsea Stroll, the brand stripped the underwear concept down to organic Pima cotton — one of the world's softest, most durable cotton varieties — and built everything from there.
The sisters had spent years researching the textile industry's environmental impact and were alarmed by what they found. Conventional cotton farming accounted for 16% of global insecticide use. Synthetic fabrics shed microplastics with every wash. Even "natural" fabrics were often treated with formaldehyde-based finishes. KENT was built as the antidote.
Material Purity
KENT's organic Pima cotton was grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, processed without toxic chemicals, and dyed with GOTS-certified low-impact dyes. The brand's commitment to material purity extended to every component — elastic waistbands, thread, even the labels were scrutinized for environmental and health impact.
The result was underwear that was genuinely hypoallergenic — not as a marketing claim but as a material fact. For customers with sensitive skin, chemical sensitivities, or simply a desire to minimize their exposure to synthetic chemicals, KENT offered a rare guarantee of purity.
Zero-Waste Packaging
KENT's packaging design reflected the same rigor as its product design. Every shipment was plastic-free, using recycled cardboard and paper-based materials exclusively. The brand achieved carbon-neutral shipping through verified offset programs. Even the garment bags were compostable.
The Essentials Approach
Rather than chasing seasonal trends, KENT maintained a focused collection of essential styles in a curated palette. This restraint reduced waste, simplified production, and communicated a clear philosophy: in underwear, quality materials and thoughtful construction mattered more than novelty.
