A racerback bra has straps that converge toward the spine, meeting in a Y or T shape at the upper back instead of running parallel down to the band. This geometry lets the bra be worn under racerback tops, tanks, and halter garments without the straps showing.
Most racerbacks also have front-closure or pull-over construction because a traditional back closure would fight the strap angle.
