Meshki is an Australian online fashion label founded in Sydney in 2013 by Natalie Khoei and Shadi Kord, who were architecture students at the time and ran it as a side project. It sells women's clothing direct to customers through its own websites, with no wholesale or store network behind it, and its lingerie-style pieces are the reason it appears in this encyclopedia.
Two architecture students and a side project
The founding story is short and the brand tells it plainly. Its US about page describes the founders as "two architecture students" and gives 2013 as the start date. Khoei and Kord did not come up through a fashion house, a buying office or a design school. They began selling clothes while still studying, and the business grew out of that part-time effort rather than out of a funded launch plan.
That background matters less as a personal detail than as a clue to how the company was built. An online-only label needs very little at the start: product, photographs, a storefront and a way to reach customers. Meshki started with that kit and kept it.
How Meshki sells
A case study published by the fraud-prevention company Riskified calls Meshki an "Australian online-only clothing brand", and that is still the cleanest description. There is no department-store concession and no wholesale arm in the sources. Customers buy from the brand's own sites, and the brand handles shipping itself.
The reach is wide for a company of its age. Meshki says it ships to more than 190 countries. It also says each collection is planned over about six months, which is a longer lead time than the label "fast fashion" suggests, though still short next to the year-ahead calendar of a traditional lingerie house such as Chantelle.
Meshki describes itself as female-owned and female-led. The company is based in Sydney's inner south, with business directories listing St Peters and an address on Botany Road in Mascot. The startup tracker Tracxn lists it as unfunded, meaning it has not taken outside venture money. One directory puts the headcount at about 176, but that figure comes from a low-reliability source and should be read as a rough size, not a count.
The 2024 Entrepreneur Of The Year award
In October 2024 Khoei and Kord were named national winners in EY's Entrepreneur Of The Year program in Australia. The Australian Financial Review covered the win on October 25, 2024, under the headline "The two mates turning Meshki into the Atlassian of fast fashion." The comparison is to the Sydney software company that grew without early venture funding into a global business, and it fits the facts that can be checked: a Sydney founding, no outside investors on record, and sales spread across most of the world from one online base.
The award is the most solid outside recognition the brand has received, and it is the main reason Meshki now turns up in business coverage as well as fashion feeds.
Where Meshki sits in lingerie
Meshki is a clothing brand first. Its lingerie-adjacent pieces sit inside a wider womenswear offer rather than in a separate intimates line run on its own terms. In that sense it belongs with online labels such as Princess Polly and Oh Polly, which sell through their own sites to a young, social-media-driven audience, more than with specialist bra makers.
For a lingerie archive that difference is useful. Specialist houses design around fit, cup sizing and engineering. A fashion label designs around the look of the full outfit, and its intimates are usually pieces meant to be seen, such as a bralette worn under an open jacket or a sheer top, rather than foundation garments meant to disappear. This encyclopedia holds 57 Meshki products in its archive.
Thirteen years after the founders started selling while still at university, Meshki remains privately held with no outside funding on record, still based in Sydney and still selling only online.
