Milavitsa

Over a century of Eastern European craftsmanship

One of the largest lingerie manufacturers in Eastern Europe. Founded in 1908 in Minsk. Produces over 16 million items annually. Dominant brand across Russia and CIS countries.

Eastern Europe's Lingerie Powerhouse

Minsk, 1908

Milavitsa was founded in 1908 in Minsk, in what was then the Russian Empire and is today Belarus. The company's history spans the most turbulent century in Eastern European history — surviving two World Wars, the Russian Revolution, Soviet nationalization, the collapse of the USSR, and the turbulent transition to market economics.

The brand began as a small corset and undergarment workshop. During the Soviet era, the factory was nationalized and became a state-owned enterprise producing undergarments for the vast Soviet market. While Western lingerie brands were developing luxury aesthetics and marketing campaigns, Milavitsa focused on production efficiency and meeting the basic intimate apparel needs of millions of women across the Soviet Union.

Post-Soviet Transformation

The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 presented both crisis and opportunity. Milavitsa, freed from central planning, began transforming itself from a state factory into a modern lingerie company. The brand invested in new manufacturing equipment, hired design talent, and studied Western lingerie trends while maintaining its core strength: the ability to produce enormous quantities at competitive prices.

This transformation was remarkably successful. Milavitsa emerged as the dominant lingerie brand in Belarus, Russia, and several other former Soviet states.

Scale of Production

The numbers that define Milavitsa are impressive by any standard. The company produces approximately 16 million items annually — making it one of the largest lingerie manufacturers in Eastern Europe. Its factory in Minsk employs thousands of workers and operates with industrial efficiency that reflects both its Soviet heritage and modern investment.

The product range covers the full spectrum of intimate apparel: bras in over 400 styles, panties, shapewear, sleepwear, and swimwear. Sizes range from A to G cups, with band sizes from 65 to 110 (European sizing), serving a broader range than many Western brands.

Design Evolution

While Milavitsa's origins are industrial, the brand has invested significantly in design capability. Collections now reference European fashion trends, incorporate quality lace and modern fabrics, and compete aesthetically with mid-range Western brands. The company employs professional designers and maintains trend research capabilities.

The brand has developed sub-lines to address different market segments: classic collections for traditional consumers, fashion-forward lines for younger customers, and performance ranges for active women.

Regional Dominance

Milavitsa maintains a network of over 400 branded retail stores across Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, and other CIS countries. In Belarus, the brand is not merely market-leading — it is a national institution, one of the country's most recognized and respected consumer brands.

Legacy

Milavitsa's story is one of survival and reinvention. From a pre-revolutionary workshop to a Soviet factory to a modern commercial enterprise, the brand has adapted to every political and economic upheaval that Eastern Europe has experienced over more than a century. It produces affordable, quality lingerie for millions of women who may never encounter a La Perla or an Agent Provocateur — and serves them with industrial dedication.
