Lavender is a pastel purple, a little warmer and greyer than lilac in this taxonomy. It gained trend status when the forecasters WGSN and Coloro named Digital Lavender their Color of the Year for 2023.
In lingerie, lavender suits satin, modal and lace. Satin gives it a silvery cast; lace in lavender tends to read softer than white but still delicate. It pairs with grey, cream, sage and dusty rose, and with silver hardware rather than gold.
Lavender, like lilac, was also one of the Victorian half-mourning colors that followed black. The classifier treats lavender and lilac as near neighbours and expects confusion between them; a deeper or more saturated pale purple belongs in purple.
