Fresh from outfitting Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce for their wedding, Jonathan Anderson took Dior’s fall 2026 couture line in an unexpected direction. Instead of leaning into romantic clichés, the designer looked to American sculptor Lynda Benglis for inspiration, trading soft lace for bold, molten forms.
The collection unfolded like a gallery show of wearable art. Anderson translated Benglis’s signature poured-metal shapes into gowns with liquid-like folds and stiff, glossy finishes. Fabrics were twisted and knotted, mimicking the artist’s famous latex and polyurethane works. The result felt less like bridal wear and more like a study in texture and tension.
Even the color palette rejected tradition. Deep copper, burnished gold, and black replaced the expected whites and pastels. One standout piece featured a dress that appeared to melt mid-stride, while another used exaggerated shoulder pads to evoke the artist’s knot sculptures. Anderson proved that couture can be intellectually sharp without losing its sense of occasion.
