CANNES - HoYeon Jung traded the festival's usual sky-high heels for a more laid-back look Monday, stepping out at the "Hope" photo call in Louis Vuitton's black Avalon High Boots. The pull-on, square-toe design features a softly slouched shaft that gave her cream crochet outfit a heavier, grounded feel.
Jung, an actor and Louis Vuitton ambassador, posed at the Palais des Festivals during the 79th Cannes Film Festival in boots that stop just below the knee. The wide shaft hangs open around the calf, with a loose, stacked collapse at the ankle creating the slouched silhouette. Pale contrast stitching runs along the top edge and down the front and side seams, curving toward the squared toe. The low, sturdy block heel keeps the boots firmly in daytime territory - a deliberate departure from Cannes' typical stiletto.
She paired the boots with a cream Louis Vuitton crochet set: a sleeveless cropped top and matching short skirt in a chunky open knit with a homespun texture. Jewelry included the Color Blossom M Star Ring in pink gold, white mother-of-pearl and diamonds, plus the Le Damier de Louis Vuitton Medium Ring. She removed the house's Lvision Pilot Sunglasses for photos.
The Avalon style gives Cannes a subtler take on a slouchy boot shape that has appeared in more exaggerated forms this spring. In March, Paris Jackson wore black slouchy over-the-knee boots to Vivienne Westwood's fall 2026 show in Paris, after opting for tighter sock-boot styles earlier that week. Heidi Klum went taller and more ruched in New York a week later, in olive over-the-knee boots with heavy bunching through the shaft.
"Hope," directed by Na Hong-jin, stars Jung alongside Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Taylor Russell, Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender. The sci-fi thriller, which premiered in competition at Cannes, follows a village disrupted by mysterious extraterrestrial beings.
