Russians have been advised on how to work lingerie-style pieces into office outfits. The guidance came from Yulia Novoselova, head of the clothing division at CDEK.Shopping, in comments obtained by Lenta.ru.
A silk top can stand in for a shirt, she said, but the fabric matters: very thin, semi-sheer material is better saved for evening looks. She recommended tops made of dense silk, satin or quality viscose, paired with a tailored jacket and finished with classic straight or wide-cut trousers.
Novoselova also suggested a midi-length satin skirt, which she said works well with a voluminous top. To balance the satin, she advised pairing it with a men's-cut cotton shirt, an oversized jumper or a jacket, adding that a cardigan also works. Black and beige are not the only options: graphite, chocolate, deep blue, milky and other muted shades suit the office.
Another appropriate combination is a slip dress with a blazer. Footwear should match the business mood, she stressed, suggesting loafers, closed mules or shoes with a clean design instead of thin-strapped sandals.
The main principle of office lingerie style is contrast, Novoselova said: the more delicate one piece looks, the more put-together the other should be. She cautioned against combining several revealing details at once, such as a deep neckline, thin straps, a high slit and open shoes. One lingerie-inspired element is enough for the office.
In September, Russians were also told how to wear trendy items inside out.
