Eight years after first meeting founder Melissa Franchi in a New York City closet, LingerieBriefs writer Ellen Lewis remains intrigued by Nevaeh Lingerie's philosophy.
Franchi has grown the business without compromising what makes Nevaeh distinctive, a commitment Lewis sees as a turning point in intimate apparel.
Franchi describes her brand as "lingerie with a rebellious soul," born from New York's electricity after dark, where fashion, music, movies, seduction, and attitude collide. She believes femininity can be powerful, provocative, romantic, raw, and unapologetically wild.
The presentation took place at Old Flings, a downtown location that served as the backdrop for five chapters: Signature Nevaeh & The Tale of Desire, The Art of Layering, Nocturne Kiss After Dark, The Archives & The Taste of Honey, and Beyond The Silhouette.
Burlesque dancer Puss & Boots performed, bringing each chapter to life. Tables displayed accessories, fabrics, gold jewelry, and sketches showing the evolution of the pieces. Cocktails flowed as buyers mingled and the press embraced the presentation.
Franchi says her customer isn't dressing to fit a category but to express every side of herself. "We don't want to make pretty lingerie," she said. "We want to make lingerie with a pulse."
