In an era of relentless novelty, Sally LaPointe offers a quiet rebellion: doing less, but better. For Resort 2027, the designer has distilled her collection to just 18 looks, a deliberate exercise in her essentialist philosophy. "I don't need to do a bunch of fluff," she told us. "It's very specific, and I can do it very well." This sharpened focus is a refreshing counterpoint to the industry's usual excess, and it resonates deeply with the history of lingerie, where the most enduring designs - from the 1920s camiknickers to the bullet bras of the 1950s - were born of similar restraint and clarity. Here, LaPointe's signature plumage, sparkles, and feathers remain, but they're applied with surgical precision. A top-selling blazer returns in bonded velvet; her famously popular hot shorts are refreshed. Notably, she's introducing varied embroidery - some hand-stitched, some machine-made - to offer more accessible price points. "You can reach a little bit nicer of a price point and it gets to a different girl," she explained. The color palette, from an ultra-pale lilac she calls "cloud" to a radiant toffee satin, prevents any sense of repetition. "We know the colors that will hit, we know there are colors you take a risk on," LaPointe noted. This is not a reinvention of the wheel, but a masterclass in making the wheel spin more beautifully. It is a lesson LaPointe shares with the great lingerie houses of the past: that true luxury is not about more, but about the perfect few.
