Tate McRae broke her streak of barely-there sandals Sunday night, stepping out in a far more embellished pair of Chanel heels at the Skylrk World Cup after party held at The Twenty Two in New York.

The "greedy" singer chose Chanel's Interlocking CC Logo Slingback Sandals from the house's cruise 2021 collection. The metallic gold pair features an open toe and a cage-like upper of slim leather bands, with camellia appliqués and interlocking CC hardware on the vamp. A narrow buckled strap wraps behind the heel, and the shoes sit on slim stilettos. McRae paired the six-year-old sandals with an all-black look: a Saint Laurent black lace slipdress in semi-sheer ribbed silk jersey, with adjustable spaghetti straps and scalloped lace along the V neckline and hem. She carried a Valentino black leather DeVain shoulder bag with a gold VLogo, and added a Panthère de Cartier watch with slim gold bracelets.

Virginie Viard originally included the sandals in Chanel's "Balade en Méditerranée" cruise collection, presented digitally in June 2020 after the pandemic canceled the planned Capri show. Chanel recreated a Mediterranean beach in Paris, and Viard described the vacation wardrobe as "charming, sexy, easy and refined." She also made a case for repeat wear: "If you have something you like from Chanel, it always works. You don't need to always buy something new." McRae's recent evening footwear has been far more minimal - she wore Jacquemus' double-heel Les Doubles sandals in July, silver Gianvito Rossi Manhattan sandals earlier this month, and Alaïa's mirrored Infradito thong sandals in June. On Sunday, she chose the decorative outlier, still sticking with an open toe, slingback, and metallic finish, but letting Chanel's layered bands and flower clusters do the talking. The contrast was on display at the party: Hailey Bieber paired a vintage red Dior slip dress with black thong kitten heels.
