Oversized shapes ruled the red carpet at the 2026 CFDA Awards, held Monday at New York's American Museum of Natural History. Iman, Tinashe, Allison Janney and Esther McGregor each wore designs that took up plenty of room, with work from Thom Browne and Christian Siriano among those pushing scale.
Iman chose black and white Thom Browne: a silky, sleeveless white blouse with a collar and a front cutout, anchored by a large black bow at the base of the collar. A black column skirt matched the bow, and wispy ruffles at the back created a short train. Statement earrings, rings and bracelets finished the look, along with pointed-toe black pumps.
Tinashe wore a variation on a Christopher John Rogers design, pairing a white bra top with black and green stripes and a low-rise skirt that ballooned outward, its black fabric broken by panels of yellow, red and white.
Janney selected a fuchsia gown from Christian Siriano's spring 2027 ready-to-wear collection, its high-neck column silhouette offset by satin sleeves that billowed outward. Statement dangle earrings rounded out her outfit.
McGregor, likewise drawing on a spring 2027 ready-to-wear collection, wore Thom Browne: a plaid bodice with a white-collared shirt, striped tie and tailored vest, opening into a tulip skirt patterned in houndstooth and checks. Black-and-white platform heels added height.
Keke Palmer hosted the ceremony, presented by Amazon Fashion, which celebrated American fashion across womenswear, menswear, accessories and emerging design. Nominees included Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Ralph Lauren, Willy Chavarria and Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen of The Row. Special honors went to Anthony Vaccarello for International Designer of the Year, Tory Burch for the Positive Change Award and Peter Marino as Fashion Icon.
