Why Stars Are Wearing Corsets That Mimic Naked Bodies, According to a Designer

British fashion designer Amanda Wakely has weighed in on a curious celebrity trend: corsets designed to resemble the naked human form. In comments shared with the Daily Mail, Wakely explained the rising popularity of these sculptural pieces among A-listers.

According to the designer, elements of knightly armor have long influenced fashion. But today, metal breastplates and corsets are being embraced as a modern symbol of self-assurance. "In uncertain times, we tend to gravitate toward clothing that makes us feel powerful," Wakely said. "Nothing conveys strength quite like a sculpted metal silhouette."

Celebrities including Zendaya, Shakira, Jenna Ortega, and Sydney Sweeney have all been spotted in these striking pieces. Wakely, however, insists the look isn't just for red carpets. "A well-cut metal corset, strong shoulders, a sharply tailored jacket, or even architectural jewelry can boost confidence without making you look like you're heading to a film premiere," she explained. In March, Wakely also commented on the trend of stars wearing wrinkled clothing on the red carpet, noting that even deliberate dishevelment can carry a message.
