Bronzini Lingerie

Bronzini Lingerie

Bronzini is a Colombian underwear and lingerie brand owned by the Colombian retail group Grupo Éxito and sold in its stores and through its fashion website, arkitect.com. It is a private label: its garments are produced by Didetexco, the Éxito subsidiary that makes the group's own clothing brands, and it advertises itself simply as a "Marca 100% Colombiana," a 100 percent Colombian brand. The range covers bras and tops, panties, bodysuits and shapewear at supermarket-friendly prices.

A supermarket's own lingerie brand

The easiest way to understand Bronzini is to compare it with the store brands found in European and American supermarkets. Grupo Éxito, headquartered in Envigado in the Medellín metropolitan area, runs hypermarkets and supermarkets across Colombia, and like many large grocers it sells clothing under labels it owns rather than buys in. Bronzini is the intimates name in that stable.

The group lists eleven own-label clothing brands made by Didetexco, among them Arkitect, People, Bronzini, Pop Rose, WKD, Coquí, Custer, Ama's, Cárrel and Bluss. Didetexco is described in the group's own structure as the textile company that "produces the garments that make up the portfolio of own-label clothing brands," which are then sold through Éxito stores nationwide. That vertical setup, a retailer with its own garment maker, is what lets a brand like Bronzini sell a bra for a fraction of the price of a branded import.

Ownership: from Casino to Calleja

Bronzini's owner has changed hands at the top. For years Grupo Éxito was controlled by the French retailer Casino. In October 2023 Casino announced the sale of its stake to Grupo Calleja of El Salvador, and the Salvadoran group took control in 2024. The deal moved the parent of Bronzini, along with its textile arm and its clothing labels, from French to Central American ownership. The roots of the business are much older: the group dates its origins to 1905 through Carulla, one of the supermarket chains it absorbed.

For the brand itself, the change has been invisible so far. Bronzini still sells through the same stores and the same website, under the same Colombian-made positioning.

What Bronzini sells

The Bronzini storefront on arkitect.com splits the line into four lingerie categories: bras and tops, panties, bodysuits, and shapewear and control garments. The brand page also points to pajamas, sportswear and other categories.

When this entry was checked, the bra and top section was small and practical. It held knit tops from 24,990 Colombian pesos and structured knit bras from 39,990 pesos, all in soft jersey knit rather than lace. Colors ran to black, white, cream, gray, purple, pink and green, in sizes S to XL with band sizes from 32 to 38. These are everyday pieces, chosen for comfort and price, and they are typical of what a mass retailer's lingerie brand does well.

Influencer collaborations

Bronzini has also worked with Colombian social media personalities on capsule ranges. Its site carries Bronzini x Isabel Henao bras and tops at 44,990 to 49,990 pesos, a modest premium over the core line, and the Arkitect brand page features a second collaboration with another Colombian influencer. The approach mirrors what larger lingerie companies do with celebrity lines, scaled to a national retailer's budget.

Shapewear and the Colombian market

The shapewear category deserves a note. Colombia has an outsized reputation for body-shaping garments, the fajas and compression pieces worn after surgery and for everyday contouring, and Medellín in particular is home to a large lingerie and shapewear industry. Bigger names such as Leonisa, founded in Medellín, built international businesses in that field. Bronzini's control brief and shaping pieces are the supermarket end of the same tradition: simpler construction, lower prices, sold beside the groceries.

The name in this archive

This museum's database lists the brand as Bronzini Lingerie, which is a descriptive filing name rather than the label's own. On its own web pages it is simply Bronzini. The plain bronzini.com address now forwards straight to the Bronzini page on arkitect.com, which confirms how closely the brand is tied to the Éxito shop.

The archive holds 21 Bronzini products. No founding year for the label appears on the pages checked, and none is given here. What can be said is its current shape: a Colombian-made private label for underwear, bras and shapewear, produced by Didetexco and sold by Grupo Éxito, now part of a retail group controlled from El Salvador.
