Jersey Knit

Jersey Knit

Stretchy knit fabric with t-shirt-like hand feel.

Jersey knit is a single-knit fabric with a visible vertical rib on the right side and horizontal loops on the reverse. It's the fabric most t-shirts are made of, and in lingerie it's used for soft bras, sleep camisoles, and comfortable panties.

Unlike woven cotton, jersey has significant stretch from the knit structure alone, even without elastane. It's soft, breathable, and forgiving.

How to Identify

  • Visible fine vertical ribs on the surface (look closely)
  • Significant stretch even without spandex
  • Matte or slightly dull surface
  • Soft drape
