Defile (Defilé) was founded in 2001 in Moscow as part of the Grozdi Group, one of Russia's largest lingerie conglomerates. The brand name itself — French for "fashion show" or "parade" — declared its aspirations: to bring Parisian glamour and runway sophistication to the Russian lingerie market.

In the early 2000s, Russia's lingerie market was bifurcated between expensive Western imports and basic domestic offerings. Defile positioned itself in the gap, offering French-inspired design at Russian prices — an accessible luxury that allowed women across Russia's vast geography to participate in European fashion culture.

Design Language

Defile's aesthetic drew heavily from French lingerie traditions: romantic lace, sophisticated color palettes, and the particular French talent for making lingerie that was simultaneously refined and sensual.
