Microfiber is a synthetic (nylon or polyester) fabric woven from extremely fine filaments — finer than human hair. The result is a smooth, silky surface that feels softer than ordinary nylon and flows like silk when draped.
In lingerie, microfiber is the default fabric for T-shirt bras, seamless underwear, and invisible-under-clothing styles. It's also the base of most shapewear.
How to Identify
- Smooth, slightly silky surface
- Opaque, usually solid colors
- Slight stretch
- Feels like fine synthetic (not as cool as silk, not as dull as cotton)
