Nude lingerie has one job: to disappear under white or sheer clothing. It does that only when the shade is close to the wearer's own skin, which makes a single pale "nude" a narrow answer. In 2015 Merriam-Webster changed its entry for nude, after a student campaign, from a color matching a white person's skin to one that "matches the wearer's skin tones." Lingerie brands such as Nubian Skin, founded by Ade Hassan, were built on the same complaint.
On this site, nude as a color label means the pale beige-pink band around the swatch shown. Deeper skin-tone shades are labelled tan or brown by color, even when a brand sells them as nude. Nude is most common in microfiber T-shirt bras, shapewear and mesh linings under black lace.
