Blush is pink at its quietest: pale, warm and close to the color of a flushed cheek. Pantone's 2016 choice of Rose Quartz, paired with the pale blue Serenity, came as this soft pink spread through fashion and interiors, and lingerie followed with blush lace and satin in many lines.
The color does two jobs. On fair skin it works almost as a nude, so a blush T-shirt bra can stay discreet under a pale top. In lace and tulle it gives the soft, slightly vintage look that bridal and boudoir brands favour. Black lace over a blush lining is a long-standing combination.
Blush is easy to confuse with nude, which is browner, and with peach, which is more orange. Dusty rose is darker and greyer. Overexposed images push blush toward white.
