Rudershop is a small Russian swimwear label listed in Moscow, known publicly through its Instagram account, @rudershop_, and through catalogs it has filed with the Fashion Model Directory since 2020. Its pictures show string bikinis and high-cut one-pieces in bold solid colors and metallic prints. Almost nothing else about the business is on the public record: no founder, founding year, company registration or working website that we could find.
What the catalogs show
The Fashion Model Directory, an industry database that has tracked models and brands since 1998, gives Rudershop a profile with a Moscow location, an Instagram link and no website. It holds two sets of images. The first is an Autumn/Winter 2020 catalog of about 250 photographs, all with the model Anastasiya Scheglova. The second is a Summer 2024 lookbook with the model Alexandra Pletnyova.
The 2020 catalog is the better guide to the product. It is shot in a plain studio against a pale wall, close and cropped, with the garment filling the frame. Two styles stand out in the images we reviewed:
- A string bikini in a scaled, metallic snake-print fabric, with a triangle top and long side-tie strings on the bottom.
- A one-piece in bright yellow with a plunging neckline, a very high-cut leg, contrast gray binding along every edge and a matching gray cord wrapped around the waist and tied at the front.
Both are classic Instagram-era swim: minimal coverage, strong color, details such as binding and ties that read clearly on a phone screen. The contrast-bound edge is a cheap detail to sew and an effective one to photograph, and the waist cord turns a simple maillot into something closer to a bodysuit.
A name shared with a rowing shop
Anyone searching for Rudershop runs into a different business first. "Ruder" is German for rowing, and rudershop.de was for many years a German online store selling rowing club kit: club shirts, racing tank tops and one-piece rowing suits for clubs in Frankfurt, Passau and Hattingen. That domain now forwards to a rowing shoe seller in Friedrichshafen, on Lake Constance, and rudershop.com shows only a hosting placeholder. Neither has any visible connection to the Moscow swimwear label. Records that link the two, including any website address attached to this entry, should be treated with caution.
How a label like this works
With no website on record, Rudershop appears to belong to the large group of small swimwear brands that sell mainly through social media rather than through stores or a standalone site. The Instagram account is the shop window, and the brand's identity lives in its photographs. That model leaves very little paper behind: no annual reports, no trade-press launches, often no website at all. For an encyclopedia, it means the catalog images are the main primary source.
In the images we reviewed, the cut stays high on the hip and low on coverage while color and fabric change. The bikini bottom is a string tie-side, the one-piece a high-leg maillot. The high-cut leg itself is a 1980s revival, and Rudershop's yellow suit could pass for a period piece if not for the cord at the waist.
What is not known
We could not establish who runs Rudershop, when it began trading, whether it makes its own garments or commissions them, or where they are sewn. We could not confirm price levels, retail partners or sales outside Russia. The Instagram account could not be read without logging in, and no Russian business registry entry could be matched to the name with confidence.
The record therefore comes down to a Moscow listing, a social media handle and two photo sets four years apart. The 2024 lookbook shows that the label was still producing new images four years after its first catalog, which is about as much as the public trail can confirm.
