Antinea is a French mid-range lingerie and swimwear label owned by Lise Charmel, the luxury corsetry house from Lyon. It was not created inside the group: Lise Charmel bought it, and it now sits alongside Lise Charmel, Antigel, Eprise and Epure as one of the family-controlled group's five names. This museum's archive holds 73 Antinea pieces from its Spring/Summer 2019 collection.
A bought-in label
The French encyclopedia account of Lise Charmel gives the order of events. The parent firm was founded in the 1950s in La Croix-Rousse, the old silk-weavers' district of Lyon, and bought in 1975 by Jacques Daumal, who built it into a group. In 1999 it created Antigel for a younger customer. It then acquired Antinea, described as a mid-range brand, and created Eprise, whose sizing runs to a G cup. Epure, a plainer line, followed in 2011.
When Antinea was bought, who founded it and where it was made before the acquisition are not recorded in the sources available for this entry. The French account gives no date for the purchase, and the group's own websites do not tell Antinea's story. This history therefore starts with the group, because that is where the record starts.
What "mid-range" means in the Lise Charmel group
The value of Antinea to its owner is position. The Lise Charmel group is organized as a ladder. At the top, the flagship sells heavily worked, often jewel-toned lace and embroidered tulle at luxury prices, through department stores such as Harrods, where it opened a corner in late 2018. Antigel and Eprise reach younger and fuller-busted customers. Antinea's role, by the encyclopedia's description, is the middle of the market.
That is a familiar structure in French lingerie. A house with expensive embroidery, pattern-making and factory relationships can spread those costs across several labels, each with its own price point and customer, without diluting the flagship's prestige. A mid-range line also gives an independent lingerie boutique a second, cheaper rail from the same supplier.
Lise Charmel's parent business sells lingerie, coordinating clothes, swimwear and beachwear in full themed collections, and the group applies the same model across its labels. The Antinea collection in this archive, dated Spring/Summer 2019, reflects that seasonal, collection-based approach.
The 2020 receivership
The group's recent history has been hard. After a cyberattack that disrupted it into January 2020, Lise Charmel placed itself in redressement judiciaire, the French court-supervised recovery procedure, in February 2020. Its subsidiary Antigel Lingerie entered the same procedure. The encyclopedia records the filing but not its outcome. The group was still trading under its own names when this entry was written, with Lise Charmel and Antigel running their own online stores.
Where Antinea is now
The clearest sign of Antinea's current status is its web address. In October 2026, antinea.com forwarded to the French store of Lise Charmel rather than to a shop of its own, and an attempt to reach an Antinea section on the Lise Charmel site led to a "coming soon" address that returned an error. Antigel, by contrast, had its own working e-shop at antigel.com.
That does not mean the label has ended. Many group brands of this kind sell mainly through independent lingerie shops and department stores rather than online, and their own websites lag behind their wholesale business. It does mean that Antinea has no public-facing history of its own, and anyone researching it has to go through the parent.
How the archive helps
With so little written about the label, the garments are the main record. The museum's Spring/Summer 2019 collection, 73 pieces, gives a researcher a single season of Antinea's design to compare with the parent's flagship work. The comparison is the useful one. A mid-range label in a luxury group tends to borrow the flagship's silhouettes and color stories while using simpler lace, less hand finishing and fewer embroidered panels, and the differences between a Lise Charmel set and an Antinea set of the same year show where the group drew its lines.
The record of Antinea in public sources is thin, and this entry says so. Its owner, its place in the group and one full season of its work are what can be confirmed.
