Where Swimwear and Lingerie Become One
Parisian Precision (1968)
Eres was founded in 1968 in Paris by Irene Leroux, who introduced a concept that seems obvious in retrospect but was revolutionary at the time: swimwear and lingerie should be made with equal precision, equal quality, and equal design ambition. Before Eres, swimwear was treated as a seasonal commodity. Leroux insisted it was lingerie for the beach.
The brand was built on a single, obsessive principle: fit. Leroux believed that the most beautiful swimsuit or the most exquisite bra was worthless if it didn't fit perfectly. This conviction drove every design decision, from fabric selection to pattern engineering to the brand's famously attentive in-store fitting service.
The Technical Revolution
Eres pioneered technical innovations that the industry later adopted as standard. The brand developed proprietary fabrics with precise stretch and recovery characteristics. Its construction techniques — flat-locked seams, bonded edges, precision-molded cups — eliminated the visible construction details that compromised both comfort and aesthetics.
The LVMH Chapter
Eres was acquired by LVMH in 1999, joining the world's largest luxury conglomerate. The LVMH ownership provided resources for international expansion while the brand maintained the exacting standards and intimate scale that defined its identity.
The Eres Experience
Shopping at Eres was an experience calibrated for perfection. The brand's Parisian boutiques were designed as serene sanctuaries where expert fitters guided customers to their ideal pieces. This consultative approach reflected Leroux's founding conviction: that a woman deserved to be fitted rather than merely sold to.
Minimalist Luxury
Eres's aesthetic was a masterclass in restraint. Solid colors. Clean lines. No logos, no embellishments, no unnecessary details. The luxury was in the cut, the fabric, and the fit — invisible to observers but unmistakable to the wearer.
